Several components sit at one place. priority says in what order — smaller means further up:
layout:
position: left
priority: 40The left column of this site:
priority | Component |
|---|---|
| 30 | explorer |
| 40 | the note box (“About this handbook”) |
Which is why it sits under the explorer. With priority: 20 it would sit above.
The numbers do not come from the plugin
Every component carries a default, and the plugin’s is 15. Whether that means top or bottom depends on what else is at that place — a number on its own says nothing. Whoever wants to move a box looks at its neighbours’ numbers, not at its own.
Leave gaps
10, 20, 30 rather than 1, 2, 3. Then something can be slipped in later without three other entries needing new numbers.
order is something else
Besides layout.priority there is order at the level of the entry:
- source: github:boxi-os/quartz-layout-box
order: 500 # load order of the plugins
layout:
priority: 40 # order on the pageorder decides when Quartz loads the plugin — for a pure component with no bearing on the
rendering. priority decides where the box sits. The two get confused readily, because both
sound like order.
